I've been meaning to post, but we had such a nice time visiting with my sister and our families that I stayed off the internet, except for snippets here and there. We are home now and I'm wishing that they live closer. Until our next visit, I left them with toasty toes:
It's so hard to take pictures of a moving toddler! Most pictures came out like this:
But we got Simon to pose with his papa:
And we got Simon to pose with his mama:
And we got Simon to pose by himself:
Here's one last family picture. Aren't they cute?:
These are all Thujas by Bobby Zeigler, found in Knitty. This is the second, third, and fourth time I've knitted these - in a Men's Size 14 (eek!), Women's Size 7 and I adjusted the pattern for a Toddler's Size 5. My sister requested warm socks for those cold Idaho winters so I used STR Heavyweight In The Navy. This was a break from the Project Spectrum colors, but they still count for Summer of Socks 2007, Knitty KAL and Manly Gift Along. In fact, these bring my total up to 16 pairs socks for the summer so far. I think I may finally be getting tired of knitting socks - can you believe it?
Oh yeah, I guess you also want to know about winners! Lucky Debbi was the 3000th commenter! She is new to my blog and me to hers but I'm always happy to find another knitblogger! Congrats Debbi and I'll be sending her some Socks That Rock! But wait, you all are so awesome to leave me so many comments so I have to randomly pick another winner, right? And that winner is Dr. B! Have you read her blog? It's hilarious! C'mon the title alone - Blather Magather should hook you! The Favorite Socks book will be winging it's way to her. Congrats! Thank you again everyone for all the nice comments! You know I love it.
Up next - a 12 hour car ride home gave me lots of time to finish Cobblestone #2. I should be blocking and taking pics some time this weekend so my next post should be a sockless one! I am so happy to be home and getting back into our routine but am a bit bummed that there was no home improvement done while I was gone this time. Am I greedy or what?!

Those are lovely! How fun! I think I need to knit more heavyweight... much closer to instant gratification!
No remodeling?! What is the world coming to? lol!

Your so cool, Tiennie! Look at those toasty toes!

What a wonderful gift for them. The yarn is absolutely beautiful and I love it in that pattern. I'm sure (and I know from experience in growing up in Idaho), that they will get LOTS of use out of those socks. I'm sure you'll be getting a request for more very soon!

Gorgeous socks! I just love the colour of that yarn. It doesn't look as dazzling on the Blue Moon site. Looks like I'll be tossing some in my cart the next time I'm there. :-)

That's so awesome and a swrrt gift for your family.

Fantastic Tiennie - the socks and the photos!

There's nothing cuter than tiny feet in tiny socks. Great color too! Glad you had a nice visit even though there were no tiling elves at work in your absence. Congrats to Debbi and Dr. B!

Once again you amaze. I love the color of STR that you chose, so perfect for such a great pattern!

Very cute! I can't believe you finished a second Cobblestone!
Posted by: Jeanne | August 31, 2007 at 03:51 AM
Oh Tiennie, those are lovely socks! And I had to chuckle at your modified version of Second Sock Syndrome - only after the 16th pair! :o)

I adore the toddler pics! Great job, once again!
Posted by: Stacee | August 31, 2007 at 04:07 AM
What fun socks! I can not believe you finished a second cobblestone either...yikes! You must knit every waking minute or are incredibly fast. I am looking forward to seeing your new one :-)
Posted by: Kim | August 31, 2007 at 04:29 AM
Oh my god how CUTE baby legs! And the socks of course are gorgeous. You are a knitting machine, Tiennie!
(Also, it is fun to see that little Simon seems to use Fuzzi Bunz -diapers, I used them for my son too. Brings back memories. :-))

Hurray for me. Tienne, I accidently deleted your message (it ended up in my bulk mail) If you try again I promise not to delete you. Thanks.

Those photos are so adorable. I love that you made all the socks match. I can't believe you're starting another Cobblestone already. I'm starting my second sleeve - I really need to take some pictures and post them!

Excellent job, as usual. The pictures are so cute of the little one with his mom and dad, everyone in their matching socks. So glad you had a good time.

This has to be by far the cutest thing I've seen all week, nay all month. SO adorable, I can't wipe the smile off my face.

Your triple Thujas are beautiful! I need to make some heavyweight socks!! And as always, I LOVE your photos!
Posted by: Pat | August 31, 2007 at 06:24 AM
LOVE the family of Thujas. Coincidentally, in yesterday's mail, I got my STR Heavyweight in In the Navy for Thujas (inspired by your *first* pair).
Now that I see how great they'll look, I might have to start tonight. :D

Great socks! Wonderful pictures!

only 3 inches into my first sock, it's amazing to me how fast you can knit socks! I love that colorway!
Posted by: Rachel | August 31, 2007 at 07:23 AM
Cute "family sock pics" as always! Yikes on the men's size 14 socks!! How long did those take you?

I love your family sock projects - you've inspired me to have a go at that this winter!
Posted by: Ruth | August 31, 2007 at 07:44 AM
First of all, that toddler-in-action shot is fantastic. And I also cannot believe you've finished a second Cobblestone. Seriously. How do you do it? You have elves, don't you? I'm gonna figure this out yet!
Also! Woo hoo! I'm doing the cabbage patch *and* the Roger Rabbit over here, not just because I won the random drawing (which is super-awesome!), but because you are so, so sweet to say such nice things about my blog.
You! Thank you for your loveliness and creativity and for spreading joy everywhere you go.

The socks look wonderful. I can sympathize with the size 14 feet. I married size 13 feet so I get to make huge socks all the time.

Awww, so cute! Love those blues too.
Posted by: Jennifer | August 31, 2007 at 08:10 AM

Your socks look fabulous! So cute with all the family toes together. ;O)
Posted by: kati | August 31, 2007 at 09:23 AM
Egad! Those knees! Those chubby, chubby li'l knees! I am seriously going to have to go get me some more STR and try it out. I have one colorway, but I'm not sure what to do with it just yet so it'll just be an excuse to get more...
Posted by: Sway | August 31, 2007 at 09:56 AM
Oh my goodness....chubby toddler legs and hand knit socks are the cutest combination!
Posted by: Kara | August 31, 2007 at 10:24 AM
Very cute! And after so many pairs, I don't blame you for being a little bit tired of socks :)
Posted by: Kristy | August 31, 2007 at 11:00 AM
What a fabulous gift!! I have the same yarn and pattern idea picked for holiday socks for dad!! Love the family of socks :)
