you make my day!

I love a snow day!  Since it doesn't happen too often around here, it's like a holiday.  Today was such a day.  My kids got to stay home from school and play with their friends.  Matt got to stay home from the office and work at home.  I got to stay home and knit!  I finished a quick project that I thought was going to be for me but my youngest daughter has decided it belongs to her and when she thanks me so sweetly, how can I resist?  Here's my oldest modeling my latest Norwegian Star Very Warm Hat (a combo of Elizabeth Zimmermann's and my pattern):

Blueside

As soon as I finished, I quickly grabbed the camera to snap a few modeled shots, with the snow coming down, before my daughter got fed up with posing for me.  Here's the grey side:

The hat was knit with US #7 from leftover Cascade 220 in white, westpoint blue and silver.  Here's both sides of the hat - fresh off the needles and a little wrinkly:

You know what else makes my day?  Receiving a very sweet award from Grumperina, Kristie, Margaux, Ruth, Samantha, Susan, Mr. Puffy, Kim, PeaKnits, Jenny Girl, Irish Girlie, Cactus Needles, Julie, Photodee, Marce, Whitney, Stacee, Aquaknits, Penny, Luvtoknit, Chronic Ennui, Crossroads Knits, StellaJulie (With a Hook), Lorette, Mary, Sway Knits and Jeanne:

Makemyday

Thanks so much!  I'm all ablushin' now.  You know, I go along, hanging out in blogland and I'm always so surprised whenever people mention me and to receive such nice recognition really does make me feel happy.  I'm really touch by this award.  The idea behind this is "Give the award to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blogland. Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on."

I read so many awesome knitting blogs that I feel bad for not being able to nominate everyone for awards and memes so I usually just go the cop-out route and don't nominate anyone but this time I will.  I feel so grateful that people spend the time to nominate me so I will do the same and hope I am able to pass this great feeling on.  These are the blogs that I really enjoy reading and that have such beautiful knits and gorgeous photos that I aspire to be just like them:

You certainly deserve that award. I love the hat and the way it is reversable. The last time we had a snow day here was probably around when I was 12!!! A fair time ago!

Aaaw, thank you! The funny thing is, I aspire to be just like you!! :) How many times have I called you my knitting queen in your cooments?!
Congratulations on your well-deserved award - and thank you. x

Love youe hats!!

You are the fastest knitter ever - anoher fabulous hat! And thank you for some links to some new blogs - always wonderful to find new inspiration! :)

Thanks Tiennie!! What a great idea to list so many! I'm looking forward to going through your list and discovering some wonderful new-to-me blogs!

Geez Tiennie, thanks! You are one of the most talented & generous knitbloggers out there, thanks so much. You make all of our days!

Beautiful hat!! Thank you for introducing me to some new blogs!

LOVE that hat!! You do such great work!

Thank you so much! What a great start to my day!

I love the hat! Kudos to your daughter for stealing it :) just kidding! looks great!

Great hat! I'm never going to get anything around this house done if I keep wanting to knit every pattern I see! Congrats on your award!!

I just thought I'd say hello and that I found you through Grumperina's blog post where you were on her list! I'm always glad to add a quality blog to my bloglines, so you are now there! Great hat, btw. I want one. :)

Aw, thank you so much! The new hat looks terrific, and I'm jealous that your snow day involved actual snow. We live at the bottom of the best sledding hill around, and it turns our street into a little winter carnival of families and dogs and snowball fights. But so far this season, not enough white stuff to sled on! Have a great day, Tiennie.

Aww, T. Thanks so much! I'd better get to work earning this award- I've been MIA TOO LONG! Thanks for the award/kick in the pants!

Well, make this 2 awards for you.

I wanted you to know that your blog does make my day. So much in fact, that I awarded you a "Make my Day Award". I hope I have made yours. When you have a chance please stop by and check it out http://www.twocrazyknitchicks.blogspot.com/

I love your Norwegian Star hat. It looks lovely and warm and perfect for snowy days off :-)

I have to agree...another fabulous hat! It looks perfect for enjoying that snow!

And I too nominated you for the you make my day award! It is very well deserved :)

Love that hat! Reversible and doubly-warm, what a combination. ;) Lovely photos too.

Great hat!!!

Aaw, you are so sweet to list me! Everytime I see one of these lists, I'm a little sad cause I know I don't make anyone's day anymore with my blog. You definitely make my day!

I love snow days. Congratulations on yours, and your gorgeous hat!

Albuquerque had a snow day today too! Although it was for only about 0.00001 inches of snow, so it feels a bit cheap to me. But my only class was canceled today, so I won't complain too much ;)

Love the hat, and thanks so much for the award, I'm blushing!

Wowie, 9 nominations for a YMMD! But you totally deserve it - such great pictures, lovely knitting, and a sweet person behind them all :)

Love the hat! And you just got another "make my day" award from me :)

You definitely deserve them!

You are most welcome. I really enjoy your blog and wanted to share it with others! You have provided a long list of places I will enjoy exploring as well! Love your hat - and the pictures in the snow.

Tiennie, thanks so much for this award. The feeling is absolutely mutual!

Aww that's so sweet, thank you Tiennie! =)

you always make my day, girl~
great new hat!

I love love love this hat. When I made your Norwegian star hat I wanted to do something like that, but was too unclever/impatient to figure it out. And I was worried that it would be too thick where the stranded knitting was ... but yours look gorgeous, so I think I will try again. (A good excuse to finally get some EZ books!)

And I love these lists of other people's favorite blogs, so much fun to check them out!

Very nice work on that hat!

You've been knitting some fabulous hats. They looks great with all the snow around. Hoping Matt is doing better.

Congrats on your awards! That is so nice to have such positive feedback for your blog. :-)

I love your daughter's hat. Aren't snow days the best? We're hoping for one here tomorrow. This has been one of the best winters I can recall for the West Coast.

Here's to the snow!

And the fabulous handknits!

Wow! You just made my day! Thanks Tiennie! Sending the blog love right back at ya!

I like your list! You're on mine! Thanks so much!!! :)

Ooh you are a popular girl. I was going to add you to my list but then saw how many times you had already been nominated, so I hope you dont mind that I didnt put your name up on my list. I too had a hard time thinking of just 10 but I do love reading other people's lists and discovering new people too. I love the hat and the fact you can wear it either way, and your daughter is a very willing model. I am sure in time our girls wont like doing the photo modelling so much.

You deserve the award as it's always so interesting reading your blog. Love the reversible hat - such a great idea!

Thanks for sharing all your favorite blogs. I now have new ones to add to my reading pile!

Great hat! If it were cold here, I may even be motivated to knit one! ;-)

Thank you, Tiennie.
You are such an inspiration - and simply amazing, in all you do.

Wow! What a gorgeous collection of mitts! Great job, fabulous colors! You are an inspiration - you seem to knit "mass quantities" (an old Sat Night Live term!) effortlessly! :) Way to go!

Thank you Tiennie!! You are an inspiration to all of us. So many beautiful knits (and for so many KALs at once!), and so much warmth from a very kind-hearted knitter. I hope we all make lots of great days for each other this new year.

And your hat is terrifc, of course I love the color combos you chose. :)

Thanks, Tiennie! You are so fabulous, you make my day too! The hat is pretty fabulous too!

You're an amazing knitter. I was barely able to knit Koolhaas twice, much less this many of one thing.

Aww, thanks Tiennie! That's so sweet of you. We all know you're the true inspiration though. That's no secret!!!!! I love the doubled hat!!

Thanks so much, Tiennie! :)

thank you so so much sweet tiennie. now that i am having a good catch up here now i understand what your comment meant the other day :) you are always an inspiration to me... my visits here make me so happy! xo

Thanks for the shout out, tiennie! I think the blogosphere is brighter with you in it.

The hat is so fab! I would have the hardest time choosing which side I would want to wear.

Hi, new visitor here. And I can't remember how I got here :-) But I just have to say your reversible hats are just amazing! Is this something you designed?
