Grumperina mentioned that I like to knit matching items for my family and well, yes, I do! I suppose I don't much enjoy knitting for myself since I can never judge, in advance, whether an end-product would look good on me. As a mom, if I knit something for one kiddo, I must knit something for the other kiddos. As a wife, I knit for Matt because he likes wearing my woolly goodness (and being featured on my blog!) As a friend, I'm touched when I get requests to knit something. I have friends that give so much of their time and effort to my kids' school and look out for my kids when I can't. As an example, they spend their Fridays, in the cold, keeping track of laps that kids run during recess for the Cougar Trail Mileage Club. Their fingers freeze as they try to thumb through index cards and mark off laps with their pencils. Of course, I will knit them some fingerless mitts! These are Evangeline fingerless mitts by Michelle Szeghalmi found at MagKnits:
All of the mitts were knit with Cascade 220 on US #7 needles. The only modification I did was to knit an extra cable repeat, after the thumb opening, in order to have the mitts cover up the fingers a little more. I love this pattern! It was so easy to do that I had the whole pattern memorized after the first pair. I think I could keep on knitting more of these and quite possibly in my sleep at this point. Here's a flamingo pink pair:
A celery pair:
An avocado green pair:
A denim pair:
A westpoint blue pair:
A silver pair:
A black pair:
A brown pair:
My daughter did all the modeling above. My daughter and her friends below:
I kept a few mitts for my daughters and me. Here's one that matches Shelby's hat:
Here's another pair that matches the other side of hat:
Whew!

Wow! You are a knitting machine! What wonderful gifts!

To me that just means you have lots of love around you! :o) Love the rainbow!

Very nice! I don't like to knit the same thing more than once, so the thought of doing so many fingerless mitts -- wow!
Posted by: Ruth | February 01, 2008 at 03:44 AM
Okay, I'm so going to seem like a mini project stalker. I love this pattern and had completely forgotten about it. You won't mind if I copy you shamelessly again in the fingerless glove department? Thanks! These are fabulous and I only have 3 more pair to make for the girls at work. I think. It will probably be more after I show up with a pair of these.

Oh! I like those!!!! I may have to try those instead of the other mitts I was thinking of. VERY nice!
You're so nice to do that for your friends!

Those are great!! We have a snow day here today. All the school boards have shut down and I'm off work home with my teenagers. There's Cascade 220 in my stash... I know what I'll be doing today. Thanks for the inspiration. You are such a wonderful woman!

Wow. You are amazing. And an inspiration - I think I need to knit some fingerless mittens now too. :-)

OMG, I can't believe this awesome mitt collection! You must be such a fast knitter (continental? english?) - always the projects flow - I love that. And the Eveangeline - I must make some after seeing your rainbow of beauties!

Oh, come on, Tiennie, time to admit, you are not a real person.... your daughter modeling?! These are all your very own hands, must be, there is no other explanation! Besides that: FABULOUS!!!
Love them all. You sixteenhandedknittingwonder are so nice.

Wow, I saw those on Ravelry this morning already. Talk about repeating yourself, but you are right, it's a pretty pattern and I like them longer too. You are so nice to knit for all those people and I'm sure it puts at least a little dent into your stash.

What a feast for the eyes! This post was beautiful. I love the mitts and I may have found the first fingerless mitt pattern I want to make. (or maybe the endpaper mitts) You have showed it off wonderfully!

You are completely amazing! Those are just the cutest mitts, and I love your pictures as well. How lucky is your family?!
Posted by: kim | February 01, 2008 at 06:05 AM
Your kindness touches my heart, Tiennie! You remind me of Dorcas in the New Testament who used her talent of sewing to serve others. What a blessing you are to your friends and your family! And, of course to us here in blogland!
Posted by: Rebecca | February 01, 2008 at 06:16 AM
I'm amazed! You do beautiful work and so quick! Love all the colors
Posted by: linda | February 01, 2008 at 06:18 AM
That does it! I think you might be crazier than I am. I know I have a reputation for knitting the same pattern over and over - but WOW! You ROCK! There is something very soothing about knowing what comes next, isn't there? And I think it makes everything go so much faster too.
Thanks Tiennie! You always make my day.
Posted by: Cara | February 01, 2008 at 06:22 AM
Wow! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who knits many items of the same pattern. Those all look great! The matchy to each side of the hat is a neat idea, too!
Posted by: Arleta | February 01, 2008 at 06:40 AM
I love the colors, and the way you photographed them! What great, thoughtful gifts for cold-fingered friends and family!

We are slowly getting more colours of 220 available in Canada. I'm looking forward to trying out this marvelous product.

what great photos and mitts for everyone!
Posted by: lekkercraft | February 01, 2008 at 07:25 AM
is the cascade 220 not a bit itchy for gloves? Also won't it felt when washed? Just curious! It's a great yarn for colors and all but I'm always hesitant to use it because of those reasons.
Posted by: pixie | February 01, 2008 at 07:35 AM

I agree with Grumperina. You're like a Gap store, offering one in every color. Even the photos have that Gap aesthetic. I'd like one of each please. Beautiful!

Those are all gorgeous! I am too selfish with my knitting time to knit that much for other people, so I have to hand it to you!
